Below, we've provided a variety of resources including videos, podcasts, and books to help you understand the importance and relevance of good urban and transportation planning to your life in Birmingham.
1. Birmingham City Planning
Birmingham has several new initiatives planned for various communities in the city. Many of these plans are defined by your community's Framework Plan, and the city's most recent Zoning Code.

2. City Neighborhoods
Birmingham is the city of 99 Neighborhoods. Find out which one you live in using this map! Neighborhoods are also grouped into 23 distinct Communities, which can be seen here.
Open the Layers tab in the top left to find your neighborhood!
3. Neighborhood Associations
All Birmingham neighborhoods have an association that represents them and plays a role in guiding urban, construction, and transit changes in their vicinity. Many of the larger, more populated neighborhoods actually meet on a regular basis to discuss these agenda items. Learn when your Neighborhood Association meets and get to know the folks who represent you. Voice your opinion on the changes you want to see in your community.

Keep an eye on what your Councilor is saying about housing reforms, transit improvements, and safer streets. Let them know what you think by giving their office a call or sending them an email.
